Blake was a scared little boy who lived under terrifying circumstances. At only 3 years old, he had gone through so much in his short life—he was physically abused by family, went days without a meal, and left alone for hours on end. Just a week before his 4th birthday, Blake found safety with the Stevenson’s, a loving Olive Crest family. Just when Blake’s life seemed to be looking up, he was diagnosed with cancer. Though only a toddler, Blake had a tumor and part of his kidney removed, in effort to save his life.

The Stevenson’s were diligent in caring for him and gave him all the medical and emotional attention he needed. His new siblings made him “get well cards,” read him books while he recovered, and were anxious to play with him once he was feeling better. Through Olive Crest, the family was connected to a community that rallied around them by bringing meals, offering transportation for Blake’s other siblings, and doing household chores so that Blake’s parents could attend to him.

We are happy to report that Blake is now cancer-free and going to school like any other little boy. He loves to play soccer, ride his bike, and watch Spiderman movies!
